Franklin B. “Frank” Greiner, Sr., 93, of St. John’s Herr Estate, Columbia, formerly of Mount Joy, died Thursday May 7, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Edith (Baker) Greiner who died in 2004. Born in Mount Joy Twp. he was the son of the late Aaron and Mary (Boyd) Greiner. Frank was a lifelong truck farmer in the Mount Joy area, and was also the owner of “Greiner’s Homemade Bologna” of Mount Joy. He was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Joy. Frank proudly served his country during WW II with U.S. Army as a T-5 Infantryman, serving with the 2nd Battalion, 405th Infantry Regiment Division 102, and was the recipient of 2 bronze stars.
Surviving is a son Franklin B. Jr. husband of Sharon Greiner of Lititz; a daughter Shirley Ann wife of Richard Sload of Mount Joy; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, with the eighth on the way. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Jane; six brothers George, Harvey, Walter, Arthur, Earl, and Harting; and three sisters Marge Hoffer, Nora Youtz and Erma Greiner.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 47 W. Main St. Mount Joy, on Monday May 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will be at Colebrook Trinity Lutheran Cemetery . There will be a public viewing on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
