Florence V. “Flossie” Metzger, 92, of Mount Joy, entered into the presence of her Savior, Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at Lancaster General Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Metzger, Jr. who died in 2000. Born in Mount Joy, she was the daughter of the late Christian R., and Lizzie (Geibe) Sherk, Sr. “Flossie” as she was affectionately known, worked as an office manager for Whitmoyer Chevrolet of Mount Joy before retiring in 1994. She was a graduate of the former Mount Joy High School class of 1942. Flossie was a faithful member of Calvary Bible Church, Mount Joy, and was a former member of Chiques United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School. Her hobbies included gardening and reading.
Surviving is a son Lewis J. husband of Madelon Metzger of Ephrata; two daughters Suzanne wife of Ronald E. Ryan, and Mary L. Parson, both of Mount Joy; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Jeffrie L. Metzger, three brothers, and six sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her viewing on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St. Mount Joy from 4:00 – 6:00 PM and also her memorial service at Calvary Bible Church, 629 Union School Road, Mount Joy, on Monday November 30, 2015 at 1:00 PM. There will be a time of visitation with the family will be immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions in Flossie’s memory may be sent to Calvary Bible Church Building Fund, 629 Union School Road, Mount Joy PA 17552.
