Florence G. “Jenny” Hammond, 96, of Lititz, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died peacefully at her home on Monday, August 26, 2024. Born in Camp Hill, she was the daughter of the late John and Florence Rife Wesley. Jenny was the loving wife of Martin L. “Marty” Hammond and they observed their 75th wedding anniversary in February of this year. Jenny met Marty Roller Skating at Hagy’s Roller Rink, in Harrisburg over 75 years ago and they became sweet hearts and best friends for life.
She was a 1946 graduate of Swatara High School in Oberlin, and in her early years worked in the billing department for Bell Telephone in Harrisburg. Following her marriage to Marty, Jenny became a devoted homemaker, and dedicated her life to her family; taking care of her children, and helping with many other children throughout her years in the Lititz area. Jenny’s interests included: jigsaw puzzles, Ballroom Dancing, traveling extensively with Marty throughout Europe with Sailing Cruises; and visiting all the states. She had a soft heart for all animals. Jenny had a deep passion for her family; and she cherished the time she could spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Marty, are two sons, Michael husband of Donna Hammond of Lititz, David Hammond husband of Yoshiko Tashiro of Downingtown, three daughters: Sandra wife of Jerry Foreman of Lititz, Patricia wife of Ray Wells of Lebanon, Carol Wiiliams of Wilmington, NC, 11 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death is a sister, Juanita Behrens, and a son-in-law, Ray Williams.
The family would like to thank Hospice and Community Care for their compassionate care for our wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
