Evelyn Pittinger Mateer

Evelyn Pittinger Mateer, 85, formerly of Manheim and Mt. Gretna passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Manor Care, Lebanon. Born in Lebanon County, she was the daughter of the late William Tilden Sr. and Annie K. Lehman Weaber. She was the wife of the late James R. Mateer who died in 2011 and her first husband the late Wilbur S. Pittinger who died in 1982. Evelyn was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim and the Manheim VFW Auxiliary Post 5956. She was a former member of the Manheim Women’s Bowling League and Stiegel Stockers. Her interests included cross-stitching, reading, puzzles and she enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda wife of Wayne Bretz, Lisa wife of Mitchell Shaw both of Manheim, a son, Kerry husband of Mirna Pittinger of Albuquerque, New Mexico, step-son, Keith husband of Bonnie Mateer of Manheim, ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two brothers, Carl Weaber, W. Thomas husband of Nancy Weaber both of Lebanon and two sisters, Arlene Sites of Lebanon and Betty Yohn of Palmyra. She was preceded in death by seven brothers.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Rapho Township. Please omit flowers.
