Evelyn Nye Muth Dennett, 88, formerly of Manheim and Gordonville passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Born in Campbelltown, she was the daughter of the late Harry S. Nye and Anna Stoudt Nye Stopfel. She was the wife of Roy W. Dennett who died in 2003 and Guy S. Muth who died in 1974. Evelyn retired after twenty years as a secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Previously, she worked at the former Noggles Garment Factory, later Regent Company, Manheim. She was a graduate of Palmyra High School in 1943. In her earlier years, Evelyn was an active member at Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim. She was involved with the Penn Laurel Girl Scout Council, Lancaster and she was a charter member of the Red Rose Pony Club, Manheim. Her interests included crocheting, counted cross-stitching, RV-ing and spending summers in South Dakota.
Surviving is a daughter, Jacquelyn M. Johns of Willow Street and eight stepchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. George Nye and a sister, Fern Nye.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 7:00 PM. Interment will be private. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
