Evelyn L. “Lucille” Haldeman, 88, of Lititz, and formerly of Manheim, died peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Aububon Villa. Born in Conewago Township, Dauphin County, she was the daughter of the late, Clarence Gainer and Mary Fauby Gainer Ginder; and the step daughter of the late Webb Ginder. Lucille was the loving wife of the late Max K. Haldeman who died in August of 1980. For many years Lucille worked in the housekeeping department for Brethren Village; previously she worked for over 25 years as a sewing machine operator for the former Noggles Garment Factory, Manheim. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim, and the Manheim VFW Auxiliary. Lucille volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program in the Lititz area. Her interests included: flower gardening, hiking in the Perry County Mountains, and feeding the birds and squirrels.
Surviving are two sons: Clarence “Butch” husband of Kathleen Haldeman of Manheim, Dale L. husband of Diane Haldeman of Lititz, a daughter, Doris J. wife of Leon Drescher of Mount Joy, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three brothers: Wendell husband of Dolly Gainer of Lititz, Charles husband of Tooty Gainer of Rexmont, Gene husband of Dolly Gainer of Virginia, two sisters: Sandy wife of Wayne Elliott of Lititz, Beckie Gainer of Lititz, and two step sisters: Shirley Stewart of Landisville, and Linda wife of Jim Gibble of Elizabethtown. Preceding her in death are three brothers: Russell, Melvin, and Wayne Gainer, and three sisters: Thomasena Grossman, Constance Wise, and Grace Gainer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Lucille’s funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing on Friday morning from 10:00AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Longeneckers Brethren Cemetery, Warwick Township.
