Evelyn L. “Evey” Nyman, 94, of Brethren Village, Lancaster, PA; and formerly of Pottstown, passed home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, June 28 2017. Evey was the loving wife of Barry L. Nyman and they observed their 72nd wedding anniversary in January of this year. Born on the family farm in Chester County; she was the eldest daughter of Earl F. and Sara Kent (Shoemaker) High. Evey graduated from North Coventry High School and West Chester Nursing School, serving in the community as a registered nurse for many years. She faithfully served as Deaconess at Coventry Church of the Brethren. Evey loved to create and take care of her flower gardens at home and at Brethren Village. She was known for her beautiful flower arrangements. Evey spent many of her quiet moments watching and listening to the birds that frequented her gardens. She enjoyed travelling in the States and overseas. Evey's life outlook was always positive and encouraging...and she never spoke unkind words about others.
Surviving in addition to her husband Barry who resides at Brethren Village; is a daughter Linda M. wife of Bill Ulrich of Quarryville, two sons: Keith, husband of Annette Nyman of Mifflinburg, Mark, husband of Alice Nyman of Woodbine, MD; a sister Marie wife of Parker Malenke of Parkerford, nine grandchildren Tim Ulrich, husband of Cher, Jennifer Hershey, wife of Steve, Stephanie Ulrich, Emily Nyman, Kevin Nyman, husband of Kelli, Angie Chappell, wife of Brandon, Sara Strauss, wife of Jason, Julie Nyman, Laura Wheeler, wife of Jacob; and sixteen great grandchildren: Martha, Taylor, Renee, Brooke, Britton, Grant, Brandon, Alison, Shaun, Michelle, Nicole, Ben, Daniel, Echo, Austin and Nathaniel. Preceding her in death is a brother, Kent High.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Evey’s memorial service in the Brethren Village Chapel, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA. on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family in the Brethren Village Chapel on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private with family at East Coventry Mennonite Cemetery, Pottstown.
