Evelyn E. Longenecker

Evelyn E. Longenecker, 94, of Lititz, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Luther Acres. Born in Gap, she was the daughter of the late Peter N. and Joanna Hoover Shirk. Evelyn was the loving wife of the late Ray H. Longenecker who died September of 2014. In her earlier years she helped her husband on the family farm in Penn Township. Evelyn was an Avon Representative for over 50 years in the Lititz area. She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim, where she taught Sunday school. Evelyn was a member of a Bowling league for many years; and enjoyed snowmobiling with her husband even in her eighties.

Surviving are two sons, Fred husband of Marci Longenecker of Lititz, Rick Longenecker of Manheim, a grandson, Nick husband of Heather Longenecker, a great granddaughter, Arizona Longenecker, two brothers: Warren husband of Sally Shirk of New Holland, Paul husband of Fay Shirk of Akron, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death is a son, Robert Lee Longenecker, a sister, Anna Shirk, and seven brothers: Raymond, Walter, Allen, Frank, Ernest, James, and Jay Shirk.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Evelyn’s funeral service at the Salem United Methodist Church, 140 North Penn Street, Manheim, on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service. Interment will be in Longenecker Brethren Cemetery, Warwick Township. Please omit flowers.
