Evelyn P. Dutt, 100, of Manheim, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Minnie Heagy Helt. Evelyn was the loving wife of the late John S. Dutt who died in March of 2009 following 66 years of marriage. In her early years, Evelyn worked for the PA Farm Bureau in Manheim, as well as a local Sewing Manufacturing Company. She continued her employment working in the Manheim Central High School Cafeteria, before retiring following many years of service in the office for Worley & Obetz, Manheim. She was an active and faithful member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim. Evelyn was well known for her beautiful Counted-Cross Stitch Creations, of hundreds of book marks and wall hangings that she would make and give to family and friends. She was passionate in sending cards, notes, and letters to people with words of encouragement and support. She loved fishing in Canada and visiting Ocean City New Jersey, and walking every day in Manheim where she lived. What brought her the most joy was surrounding herself with her family, and attending sporting and cultural events of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved and cherished her family deeply.
Surviving is a son, Jan S. husband of Candace Dutt of Easton, two daughters: Joan S. wife of Jay K. Hess of Manheim, Jonita S. Bires of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, ten grandchildren: Heather Keller, Jeffrey, James, Jeremy Dutt, Shelley Hays, Christopher, Jason, Jonathan Hess, Corey and Casey Bires, and 22 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are twin sons: James and John Dutt, a brother, Oliver Helt, two sisters: Viola Millhouse, Anna Mae Campbell, and a son-in-law, Terry Bires.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Evelyn’s Funeral Service at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 50 North Main Street, Manheim, on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery.
