Eugene S. "Gene" Geib, 80, of Manheim, died peacefully and went home to be with his Lord on Monday, September 17, 2012, at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Elwood M. and Helen Sheaffer Geib. For over 42 years, Gene worked as a mechanical superintendent for the former Raymark Industries, Manheim. Following retirement he was employed part time for the Manheim Auto Auction. Gene was the loving husband of Beverly A. Hershey Geib and they observed their 50th wedding anniversary in March of this year. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Manheim. Gene had a passion for the outdoors; and enjoyed golfing, camping, fishing, and hunting. He and his wife enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Mifflin County and also traveled and spent their winters in Zephyr Hills, Florida for the past 16 years. An avid race car fan; Gene built his own Micro Midget Race Car and drove his car in many races at the Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway near Brickerville for many years. He also took part in the NASCAR "10 Hot Laps" where he drove an official stock car on the track of the Dover International Speedway. Surviving in addition to his wife, are two daughters: Joanne D. wife of Dane Hollinger of Washington Boro, Gail L. wife of Rich Holmberg of East Petersburg, a son, Barry E. husband of Linda Geib of Milton Grove, five grandsons: Ryan, Jason, Matthew, Jeremy, Kyle, five great grandchildren: Madison, Nathaniel, Nicole, Natalie, Alyssa, and two sisters: Shirley wife of Harry Finefrock of Zephyr Hills, Fl., Gloria wife of Tom Sprecher of Mount Gretna. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, 48 Market Square, Manheim, on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
