Lt. Cmdr. Eugene D. Crandall Ret., 84 of Elizabethtown, died Friday November 18, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital, Harrisburg. He was the husband of Terri D. (Bahn) Crandall. Born in Woodston, KS, he was the son of the late Napoleon H. and Opal (Ford) Crandall. After completing high school he served in the Kansas Army reserve for two years. He graduated from Kansas St College with a BS in mathematics. After college he entered the US Navy flight training command. He was a patrol plane commander in P5M's with two deployments to the Far East. He also did two deployments to Antarctica in "Operation Deep Freeze" where he was the aircraft commander of a LC-130F. His last duty was with the Air Development Squadron SIX in Quonset Point, RI. After his retirement he also worked with Carpenter Local 287, Harrisburg. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the Elizabethtown senior center.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son Robert husband of Suzette (Wenger) Crandall, Lancaster; a daughter Gina wife of Dale DeVries, Sumas WA; six grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister Agnes Eslinger, Sylvian Grove KS.
At the request of Lt. Cmdr. Crandall, services and interment with military honors will be private.
