Ethel Elizabeth Kerscher, 100, a resident of Willow Valley Retirement Community in Lancaster, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Born in Palmyra, she was the daughter of the late Levi and Emma Brown Wenger. Ethel shared 60 years of marriage with her husband, the late Fred J. Kerscher, who passed away in 2003.
A 1934 graduate of Fredericksburg High School, she met her husband during World War II while she was working as a clerk for the Naval Department. For many years, Ethel and Fred lived in Washington D.C. and she worked for the Ideal Potato Chip Company.
She was a member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren and she enjoyed writing poems and decorating egg shells.
Survived by numerous nieces and nephews, she was preceded in death by her husband Fred; a daughter, the late Linda Kerscher, who was a captain in the Army Nurse Corps; seven brothers and five sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Ethel’s funeral service at the Lititz Church of the Brethren Chapel, 300 West Orange Street, Lititz, on Friday June 24, 2016 at 2:00 PM. There will be a visitation at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Chiques Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Manheim.
