Esther Mae Martin, 84, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, November 14, 2014. Born in Strasburg, she was the daughter of the late Clayton M. and Elsie J. Gehman Rohrer. Esther was the loving wife of Roy B. Martin and they would have observed their 56th wedding anniversary in December of this year. Since 1972 Esther and her husband were the owners and operators of Martin’s Greenhouse in Mastersonville. She was a member of Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, Lititz.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are three sons: Daryl R. husband of Mary K. Martin of Lititz, Duane R. husband of Kathy Martin of Manheim, Delmar R. Martin of Columbia, a daughter-in-law, Mary M. Martin of Manheim, 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a brother, Nelson husband of Pauline Rohrer of Quarryville, three sisters: Marie Rohrer of Ronks, Martha wife of Amos Ramer of New Paris, IN., and Elsie wife of Marlin Lehman of Lititz. Preceding her in death is a son, Dale R. Martin, granddaughter, Kristy Grube, a sister, Ruth Eberly, and six brothers: Enos, Jacob, Elmer, John, Paul, and Daniel Rohrer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Esther’s funeral service at the Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, 590 Hammer Creek Road, Lititz, on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 10:30 AM. There will be a viewing at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing on Thursday morning at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Hess Mennonite Cemetery, Warwick Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Esther’s memory to: Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, 3026 Mt.
