Esther M. Connelly

Esther M. Connelly, 91, formerly of South Linden Street, Manheim passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Luther Acres, Lititz. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late B. Franklin and Mary Hilton Whiteside. She was the wife of the late John H. Connelly who died in 1982. Retired in 1984, Esther worked in the water and sewer billing department for the Manheim Borough Authority. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim where she was active with Daughters of Zion. She was also a member of the Manheim American Legion Auxiliary Post 419, Manheim VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5956, Manheim Historical Society, TOPS and the Red Hat Society. Her interests included cooking, traveling, playing cards and she loved going to the Manheim swimming pool and spending time with her family. Esther also enjoyed watching Manheim Barons Football and the Philadelphia Phillies. Surviving is a daughter, Mary Ann wife of Robert E. Greiner, two sons, J. Michael husband of Kathleen Shank Connelly and Douglas R. husband of Karen Rettew Connelly all of Manheim, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Greiner Jr. and a sister, Ruth Saylor. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2 South Hazel Street, Manheim on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10:30 AM with Pastor James W. Roth officiating. Interment in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. There will be a public viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
