Esther Hicks, 85, of Middletown, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Larry Hicks, Sr. who died in December of 2010. Born in West Hanover Township, she was the daughter of the late Irvin W. and Rachel (Shive) Hinkle. Esther had worked as a clerk at the former Pantry Pride of Harrisburg for 30 years before retiring in 1986. She was a faithful member of Capital Bible Church of Harrisburg. Her interests included ceramics and crocheting, but her greatest joy was being a devoted mother and grandmother. Surviving are two sons Monroe husband of Jenelle Horne of Sebastian, FL and Larry, Jr. husband of Emily Hicks of Harrisburg; two daughters Sandra Davis, and Cindy wife of Joe Conaway, both of Middletown; a daughter in-law Beth Horne of Carlisle; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sons Daniel and David Horne, two brothers, and three sisters. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Capital Bible Church, 100 N. Hershey Road, Harrisburg, PA on Monday February 13, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. There will be a public viewing at Capital Bible Church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
