Ervin R. Weaver, 88, formerly of Mount Joy, died Sunday May 10, 2015 at Luther Acres, Lititz where he was a resident. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ervin M. and Anna (Bomberger) Weaver. He was the husband of Jean M. (Scheffler) Weaver, and they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in October 2014. He was a graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, class of 1945. He completed the machinist apprentice program at Armstrong Cork Co. and worked there for 6 years. Ervin was then employed at AMP for 37 years as a tool & die maker before retiring in 1988. Ervin proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mount Joy where he served on the church council, property committee, and was a head usher. Ervin also served as an assistant scout leader for Boy Scout Troop #39 of Mount Joy. He was a life member of the Mount Joy Sportsman’s Assoc., and was a member of the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society. Ervin enjoyed collecting electric model trains and enjoyed discovering covered bridges with his wife.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son Robert E. Weaver companion of Anke Pingen of Cologne, Germany; and a daughter Susan K. wife of Rev. George Minick of Hummelstown.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 47 W. Main St. Mount Joy on Thursday May 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Michael Martine and Pastor David Klepper officiating. Interment at Conestoga Memorial Park will be private.
