Ernest H. Miller, 89, of Brethren Village, Lancaster, and formerly of Lititz, and Fort Myers, FL., was called home following a lengthy illness, on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz. Born in York County, he was the son of the late Walter and Maggie Herman Miller. Ernest was the loving husband of Elva H. Longenecker Miller and they observed their 70th wedding anniversary on June 3rd of this year. During his life Ernest provided custom welding, and owned Miller Mobile Welding in Florida; he also owned and operated farms in Warwick and Penn Townships. He was a member of the White Oak Church of the Brethren, Manheim; and was a former member and deacon of Fort Myers Church of the Brethren in Florida. Ernest was an avid fisherman and enjoyed vegetable gardening.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Elva, are two sons: David L. husband of Martha Dodson Miller of Fleetwood, Daniel L. husband of Cheri Reeder Miller of Lancaster, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a sister, Miriam Cassel of Lititz. Preceding him in death is a brother, Ivan Miller.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the White Oak Church of the Brethren, 1211 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 10:00 AM. There will be a viewing at the church on Thursday evening from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing time on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Longenecker’s Brethren Cemetery, Warwick Township. Please omit flowers.
