Emma E. Young

Emma E. Young, 88, formerly of Manheim passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. Born in Rheems, she was the daughter of the late Phares O. and Lilly Landvater Frey. She was the loving wife of the late Harold H. Young who died in 2015. Emma retired as a secretary for Dr. Charles A. Callis Jr., Manheim. She also worked part-time at the Manheim Auto Auction. Emma graduated from the former Manheim High School in 1945. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Manheim, Faith United Methodist Church, Lititz and Zion United Methodist Church, Schaefferstown. Emma was a fifty year member and Past Matron of the Lititz Springs Chapter #499 Order of Eastern Star. Her interests included crocheting, ceramics, cooking, playing cards and crafts.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey L. husband of Shari P. Young of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kenneth E. husband of Shirl Young of Medford, Oregon, a daughter, Penny L. Shoop of Elizabethtown, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Mary Jean Frey of Manheim. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Young, a sister, Erma Frey and two brothers, Blaine and Norman Frey.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Emma’s memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will be private in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Emma’s memory to Faith United Methodist Church, 1290 Fruitville Pike, Lititz, PA 17543.
