Elwood C. Woody Miller, 92, died Wednesday January 27, 2010 at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy.
He was the widower of Anna Mary (Rohrer) Miller who died in 2004. Born in Landisville, he was the son of the late Clay F. and Sophie (Korn) Miller. Woody was a certified master watchmaker for the former Hamilton Watch Co. of Lancaster for 40 years before retiring in 1980. Woody then was employed at the Manheim Auto Auction for seven years. Woody graduated from the former East Hempfield High School, class of 1937, and also graduated from the former Bowman Technical School of Watchmaking of Lancaster, class of 1939. He was a member of the Church of God of Landisville for many years and served as both a deacon and elder, and sang in the church choir. He was a former fire chief of the Landisville Fire Company for 20 years. His other interests included golfing, hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Surviving are two sons, Theodore L. Miller of Lancaster, Leslie R. husband of Alice Smith Miller of Maytown; a daughter Susan K. wife of Peter Coleman of Manheim; six grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at the Church of God of Landisville, 171 Church Street, Landisville PA on Monday February 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Barry Sellers officiating. Private interment will be in Landisville Mennonite Cemetery. There will be a time of fellowship with the family following the service in the church fellowship hall.
