Elizabeth H. “Betsy” Farmer

Elizabeth H. “Betsy” Farmer, 78, of Manheim, died peacefully Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Donald E. Farmer who died in 2013. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Dr. I.N. and Dorothy Davis Hershey. Betsy was a graduate of Manheim Central High School, class of 1955. She had worked for Prudential Insurance Co., and also worked for the Manheim Auto Auction as an office clerk part-time for 34 years. Betsy was an active and faithful member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim. She enjoyed watching sports, cross word puzzles, word search games, and was an avid reader.

Surviving is a son Jeffrey A. Farmer of Manheim, a daughter Sheila E. Farmer of Mount Joy, and a brother Davis husband of Diana Hershey of Redwood City, CA. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister Edith Oren.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Davita for their compassion, care, and friendship throughout her years of dialysis. Also thank you to the nurses and staff at Hospice and Community Care for the comfort and care they provided.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Private interment will be in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery, Manheim. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in honor of Betsy to: St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Endowment Fund, 50 N. Main St., Manheim, PA 17545.
