Elizabeth A. Beckmeyer

Elizabeth A. Beckmeyer, 82, of Manheim, passed away at her home on Thursday, May 19, 2016. Born in York, she was the daughter of the late Edward S. and Anna Witmer Ilgenfritz. She was the wife of the late Roger W. Beckmeyer, who passed away in 1998.

Elizabeth was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Manheim, where she was involved in the Women’s Fellowship and the Called to Care Ministry.

She was a 1951 graduate of West Chester State Teachers College, now West Chester University, and she received a Master of Education degree in 1958 from Penn State University. Elizabeth taught in the York City School District, the Demonstration School at West Chester State Teachers College, the York Suburban School District, and for many years she was a substitute aide in the Manheim Central School District.

Known for her kind and caring nature, Elizabeth will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed puzzles, reading, sewing and loved her granddogs.

She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth, wife of Patrick Bryant, Manheim; two granddaughters, Katherine and Marie; a niece, Gwylan Carson, Nellysford, VA; a great niece and three great great nieces. She is preceded in death by a brother, Edward Ilgenfritz and a sister, Virginia Courtright.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Service for Elizabeth at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
