Elias Frey Jr.

Elias Frey Jr., 88, of Manheim, died peacefully on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center in Narvon. Born in Conoy Township, he was the son of the late Elias T. Sr. and Fannie Daveler Frey. Elias was a life-long farmer and was owner and operator of his own farm in Rapho Township. He was the loving husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Faus Frey who died in December of 2009. Elias was a member of the Hernley Mennonite Church Manheim. Surviving are eight children: a daughter, Miriam June wife of Ralph Lentz of Elizabethtown, a son, Jay Richard husband of Janet L. Landis Frey of Bronx, N.Y., a son, William Kenneth husband of Joyce Carpenter Frey of Manheim, a son, James Nelson husband of Barbara J. Showalter Frey of Newville, a son, Mervin Eugene husband of Rachel Herr Frey of Greencastle, a son, Clair Lamar husband of Sandra Stearn Frey of Brownstown, a daughter, Ruth Ann wife of James Lindberg of Lewisburg, a son, John David husband of Miriam G. Miller Frey of Manheim, 24 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, two brothers: Claude Frey of Elizabethtown, Wilbur Frey of Lancaster, five sisters: Dorothy Frey of Elizabethtown, Mary Ritchie of Timberville, VA., Erma Schnabel of Souderton, Nancy Longenecker of Lancaster, and Fannie Lois Frey of Elizabethtown. Preceding him in death are five brothers: Paul, Harold, Martin, Ralph, and Earl Frey. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Hernley Mennonite Church 746 Lebanon Road, Manheim on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be a viewing at the Hernley Mennonite Church on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with additional viewing on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
