Edward W. “Ed” Sullivan, 97, of Manheim and formerly of Glen Burnie, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Hampstead, Maryland, he was the son of the late Harry and Mamie Snyder Sullivan.
Ed was the loving husband of the late Elizabeth I. “Betty” Shroyer Sullivan who died in 2009. He retired as a car salesman for Anderson Chevrolet, Baltimore, Maryland. In his earlier years, Ed managed several Five & Dime Stores in Pennsylvania and Maryland. He was a member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim and he graduated from Dickinson Business School, Carlisle. Ed enjoyed flowers, guarding the stock market, traveling out West and to casinos. An avid sports fan, he also enjoyed baseball, especially the Philadelphia Phillies.
Surviving are five children, Peggy wife of John Sauter of Manheim, Edward Jr. husband of Janice Sullivan, Roger husband of JoAnn Sullivan both of Baltimore, Maryland, Charles husband of Norma Sullivan of Manheim, Miriam wife of Eddie Church of Keavy, Kentucky, ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Hoffer Auditorium, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 12:00 noon. There will be a public viewing on Wednesday at Hoffer Auditorium from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be private in Ruhl’s United Methodist Cemetery, Rapho Township.
