Edward L. "Ed" Shoop

Edward L. “Ed” Shoop, 79, of Elizabethtown, died peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Bainbridge, he was the son of the late Russell and Ethel (Gingrich) Shoop. Ed was a truckdriver for Earl R. Martin Trucking Inc., New Holland and in his earlier years, he was a dairy farmer in Bainbridge for over 20 years. He graduated from Elizabethtown High School in 1963. An outdoorsman, Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing and walking his dog, Sandy.

Surviving are two daughters, Amy Shoop of Elizabethtown and Janell wife of Douglas Tomlinson of Columbia, a grandson, Jacob Van Pelt and a brother, Fred Shoop of Mount Joy. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Van Pelt.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 West Main Street, Mount Joy on Thursday, March 20, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Bainbridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Ed’s memory to the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, 2102 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
