Edward C. "Ed" Coyle Jr., 89, formerly of Leonia, New Jersey went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Edward C. Sr. and Helen Walk Coyle. He was the loving husband of Eileen M. Healey Coyle and they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in September of last year. Ed retired as a refrigeration engineer for Engineering and Refrigeration Corporation and he worked 10 years in the maintenance department at Holy Name Hospital, New Jersey. He proudly served in the United States Navy, serving during WWII aboard the USS Canberra, which survived the longest tow in Naval history. He received several ribbons and six stars during his active service in the Navy. Ed was a faithful member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim, where he was a Eucharistic minister. His interests included fishing, golfing, photography, and he loved to spend time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Phillip E. husband of LoaAnn Hall Coyle of Minnesota, Daniel J. husband of Betty Simmons Coyle of Maryland, three grandsons, Brendan, Zachary and Mathew husband of Stephanie Coyle and their children, Brady and Henry. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Richard Catholic Church, 110 North Oak Street Manheim, on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 10:30 AM with Reverend Father Francis T. Menei as celebrant. Interment in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. There will be a public viewing at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Hoffer Auditorium, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and at the church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
