Edna E. Buckwalter, 92, formerly of 635 Water Edge Road, Lititz, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at Moravian Manor, Lititz. Born in Lampeter, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Groff Rohrer. Edna was the loving wife of the late David E. Buckwalter who died in April of 2010.Together they worked the family farm in Lititz, for nearly 60 years. She was a member of Farm Women Society #19. Edna was a Sunday School teacher, 4-H leader, and served as head cook for Lititz Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed sewing quilts for Mennonite Disaster Relief and was also a member of Lititz Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed flower gardening and was an excellent cook, taking great pleasure in offering warm hospitality to family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Ann wife of David H. Bowlby of Lititz, Shirley M. wife of Martin D. Gahman of Perkasie; six grandchildren: Jennifer wife of Jake Mikolic, John David husband of Lauren Bowlby, Jeffrey husband of Eileen Bowlby, Jeremy husband of Courtney Bowlby, Kady Gahman, Kevin husband of Melissa Gahman; seven great grandchildren; a sister Ruth Nissley of Mount Joy, and two brothers, J. Lloyd Rohrer of Manheim and Harold G. husband of Helen Rohrer of Lampeter. Preceding her in death, a grandson Brent Gahman, a sister Mary Swarr, and a brother Melvin G. Rohrer.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Edna’s funeral service in the Steinman Hall Chapel of Moravian Manor, 300 W. Lemon Street, Lititz, on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive guests at the Chapel from 10:00-11:00 AM. Interment will be in East Petersburg Mennonite Cemetery. The family would like to thank all the staff at Moravian Manor South Wing for their compassion and loving care they provided for Edna during her last years.
