Earl K. Shelly, 86, of Manheim passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, June 24, 2012. Born in Rapho Township, he was the son of the late Amos N. and Lulu Kessler Shelly. He was the loving husband of Jean L. Stirling Shelly and they would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in November of this year. His first wife, Florence Ritter Shelly died in 1978. Earl was a 1943 graduate of the former Mount Joy High School and he proudly served in the United States Air Force during WW II. Retired in 1984, Earl was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in the Manheim area. His interests included fishing, hunting, gardening and he enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies. Earl loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Rebecca wife of Randall Snader of Manheim, Mary Ann wife of David Fisher of Salunga, Debra wife of Jerre Hammond of East Earl and Susan K. wife of Michael Bevil of Souderton, two stepchildren, Gary husband of Susan Shelly of Manheim and Patricia wife of Phares "Bill" Haldeman of Elizabethtown, sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandson and a brother, Amos husband of Barbara Shelly of Mount Joy. He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
