E. Richard “Dick” Witman, 82, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Amos and Sadie Reppert Witman. Dick was the loving husband of Joan Connelly Witman and they observed their 58th wedding anniversary in December of last year. For over 36 years Dick worked as a supervisor for the Fuller Company, Manheim. Following that, he was employed by Rohrer’s Quarry, Lititz, where he worked for many years until his retirement. His interests included woodworking, camping, painting his house, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Phillies and Eagles. Dick had a life-long passion for fishing and loved to travel to Rehoboth Beach and Indian River Inlet.
Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son, Michael S. Witman of Manheim, a daughter, Susan M. wife of Ray A. Ditzler of Easton, three grandchildren: Amanda Linder, Mindy S. Ditzler, Tyler Witman, three great grandchildren, two brothers: Robert Witman of Manheim, Donald husband of Barbara Witman of Palmyra, and three sisters: Nancy Huber of Lancaster, Doris wife of Frederick Gabriel of Manheim, Peg wife of David Troop of Micco, Florida.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dick’s memorial service from the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Ruhl’s United Methodist Cemetery, Rapho Township.
