E. Richard "Dick" Herr

E. Richard “Dick” Herr, 85, of Lancaster, died unexpectedly, Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Longwood Manor, Maytown. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Elias and Esther (Landis) Herr. Dick was the loving husband of Jeri (Hiestand) Herr, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage this past year. Dick was the owner/operator of the former Herr's Dry Cleaning & Laundry of Millersville, Lancaster, Strasburg and Willow Street. Dick and Jeri attended the Clearfield United Methodist Church in New Providence. Dick enjoyed various sports; he was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan, he enjoyed snow skiing, sail boating, and loved his tennis and was a member of the Men’s Tennis Club at Mt. Gretna. Dick and his family also enjoyed spending the summers at “The Cottage” in Mt. Gretna since 1969.

Surviving in addition to his wife Jeri is a daughter Gretchen wife of Michael P. Ament of Marietta; 2 granddaughters Sarah, wife of Jason Goe of Holtwood, Hannah Lipman of Hawaii; one great grandson Jackson Goe; two sisters Norma wife of Howard Kreider of Refton, Helen wife of John Hershey of Willow Valley; and a brother E. Marvin Herr of Willow Valley.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Thursday August 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with family on Thursday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
