Dr. David E. Deibler, 72, of Lititz, passed into the open arms of Jesus on Friday, April 19, 2024 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born in Millersburg, he was the son of Violet Deibler Shenk of Manheim and the late Earl E. Deibler. David was the devoted husband of Michelle E. Clair Deibler with whom he recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. David earned a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa and fulfilled his prerequisites from Millersville University. After serving the Lititz and Ephrata communities for over two decades, David entrusted the care of his chiropractic practice to his daughter, Dr. Alyssa S. Grube, as he ventured into new business and professional endeavors. For the next nearly 30 years, he dedicated his second career to the family business, eventually retiring as President of Clair Brothers Audio Systems, Manheim.
David demonstrated a love for problem-solving and a continual curiosity for learning new things. A true man for all seasons, he possessed an array of talents and skills. His passion for engineering and architecture was evident in his key role in designing two Clair business headquarters: one in Lititz at 1 Ellen Avenue and another in Manheim at 1 Clair Boulevard. He also designed the family vacation home known as “Summer Harbour” in Ocean City, Maryland. David was a gifted musician and vocalist who showcased his talents in various bands, playing music for fundraising events to support local charities. He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Congregational Church in Rothsville and served on the board for the “new” Lititz Rec Center’s inception in the nineties. His interests transitioned from conquering mountains through rock climbing in his early years to conquering countless New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles in his later years.
David possessed a brilliant mind and a wealth of knowledge, yet he had a rare gift of making everyone he encountered feel valued and understood. Whether engaging in deep discussions with scholars or sharing stories with friends, he had a remarkable ability to bridge gaps and ensure that everyone felt comfortable and heard in his presence. Described as kind, compassionate, and consistently fair, his life was defined by a profound and unwavering devotion to his family, whose love and support were the cornerstone of his existence, while his Christian faith remained his steadfast anchor.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Michelle, and his mother, Violet, are three daughters: Dr. Alyssa, wife of Jeff Grube, of Akron, Christie, wife of Henry Hissrich IV, of Lititz, Claire, wife of Chad Messimer, of Lititz; a son, Colin, husband of Melanie Deibler, of Lititz; eight grandchildren: Mary Grace, Hannah, Henry V, Owen, Scout, Grant, Adelaide, and Sarah; three brothers: Donald Deibler, partner of Beth Lopez, of Manheim, Dennis, husband of Linda Deibler, of Lancaster, Douglas, husband of Aarin Deibler, of Lancaster; a sister, Brenda, wife of Ken Lund, of Lititz; a sister-in-law, Portia Deibler, of Maine; and a half-sister, Nancy Kelly, of State College.
