Dorothy S. Worhun, 88, loving wife and mother, closed her eyes on her earthly life and opened them in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016. “Good morning glory!”
A resident of the Denver Health and Rehabilitation Center in Stevens, she was born in Newark, NJ, and was the third daughter of the late Robert and Lillian Tully Singerline. Dorothy married the late John Paul Worhun on July 19, 1952.
She is survived by her son, Jon Paul and her daughter Dorothy “Dore” Lynn Worhun, and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 32 years and an infant son, Donald Robert.
A graduate of Clifford J. Scott High School in East Orange, NJ, she worked briefly in New York City as a real estate secretary and went on to work for many years beside her husband in the family floral business.
Dorothy’s most treasured love and joy was her family. Her life exemplified the words, “There are no great things, only small things done with great love.”
A Memorial service for Dorothy will be held at the Akron Church of the Brethren, 613 Main St., Akron, on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. There will a visitation with the family prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
