Dorothy S. Herneisen

Dorothy S. Herneisen, 88, of Lititz, died on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Penn Township, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Grace Eckert Sangrey. She was the loving wife of Wilbur U. “Bill” Herneisen who died in October of 1999. Dorothy was a faithful member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim. She worked as a secretary at Agway Feed Mill, Manheim and after retirement worked part time at the Ephrata Agway store before continuing to travel extensively with her husband Bill. Dorothy was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, the Manheim Community Library and was a member of the Manheim Historical Society. She enjoyed playing cards, reading and flower and vegetable gardening.

Surviving is a son, Curtis L. Herneisen, of Manheim, a daughter, Christine K. Herneisen, a granddaughter, Lindsay wife of Matthew Odum, a great granddaughter, Charlotte Odum, all of Kernersville, NC, and two sisters, Esther wife of Kenneth Brosey, of Manheim, and Ruth Weidman, of Sporting Hill. Preceding her in death is a brother in law, Richard Weidman.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Dorothy’s memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
