Dorothy R. Matthews

Dorothy R. Matthews, 79, formerly of Penn Valley Village, Lititz passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Lancashire Hall. Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late George O. and Nora B. Dorman Robinson. She was the wife of the late Roger M. Matthews who died in 2006. A homemaker, Dorothy previously worked at the former John Landis Florist, Lancaster and she was a manager at the Lancaster Country Club 19 Hole Club for Women. She was an active member at Lititz United Methodist Church where she helped with the clothing bank, prayer chain and she volunteered her time with various activities at the church. Her interests included gardening, dancing, gospel music, reading and she enjoyed collecting paintings and poetry. She loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Ann Halliwell and Connie Marie Guy both of Mount Joy, two grandchildren, Deborah Guy wife of Scott Bussell and Brandon Tyler Swigart companion of Krystal Cummins all of Lancaster, a brother, George O. Robinson of Rockingham, North Carolina and two sisters, Pearl McMillian of Roseboro, North Carolina and Pauline Reinholdt of Holiday, Florida. She was preceded in death by a brother, Seavey Robinson and six sisters, Verlena Hill, Virgie Brooks, Lois Jean Irmer, Christine Benton, Grace Jaycox and Ruby Wayson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 6:30 PM. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Lititz Moravian Cemetery. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:30 PM until the time of service. Please omit flowers.
