Doris F. Bell, 93, of Manheim, died peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Ethel Elsen Fawber. Doris was the loving wife of the late Jay S. Bell who died in May of 2013. After many years Doris retired from Donegal Industries, Mount Joy, where she worked as a sewing machine operator; she was also employed at other sewing manufacturing companies in the Manheim area. She attended Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim, where she helped with the funeral luncheons. Her interests included counted cross stitch, and needlepoint. Doris had a life-long passion for travel, and delighted in extensively exploring the United States with her husband in their motor home. Every year Doris and Jay faithfully traveled to the Penn State University football games.
Surviving is a son, Jay R. husband of Glenna Bell of Manheim, two grandchildren: Brian husband of Linda Bell, Stacy Bell, two great grandsons: Tyler and Dylan Bell, a brother, Richard Fawber of Landisville, and a sister, Joan wife of John Musser of Soddy Daisy, TN. Preceding her in death is a brother, Robert Fawber.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Doris’s memorial service in the Hoffer Auditorium at Pleasant View Retirement Community, 544 North Penryn Road, Manheim, on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family in the Hoffer Auditorium on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
