Donald R. Rothfus, 96, of Lititz, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Luther Acres, Lititz. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Frederick and Elsie Ruthart Rothfus. He was the loving husband of the late Janet E. Yoder Rothfus who died in 2008 and G. Louise Mathiot Rothfus who died in 1947. For over forty years, Donald owned and operated the former Yoder’s Restaurant & Bar, Lancaster which is currently American Bar & Grill. He graduated in 1940 from Manheim Township High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II. Donald was a member of St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lancaster. A race car enthusiast, Donald was a driver and past officer for Lanco Micro Midget Racing Club, Newmanstown. He also enjoyed watching sports, playing pinochle, and he loved to spend time with his family.
Surviving are three children, Diane M. Yeagley of Lititz, Donald B. husband of Sandra Rothfus and Douglas R. husband of Kathleen Rothfus both of Lancaster, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a sister, Anna Wetzler of Lititz. He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard C. and Gary W. Rothfus and two brothers, Richard R. and Earl R. Rothfus.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service at the Buch Funeral Home, 216 South Broad Street, Lititz on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment in St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, Neffsville.
