Donald P. “Don” Kegarise, 79, of Manheim, died peacefully, Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Suzanne (Johnson) Kegarise, and they celebrated 58 years of marriage last June. Born in Hopewell, he was the son of the late Percy and Elizabeth (Steele) Kegarise. Don was an industrial engineer for AMP, Inc. Mount Joy, Florin and 38th Street Plants before retiring in 1982. He was a graduate of Tussey Mountain High School and LeTourneau University. He was a member of Calvary Church, Lancaster. He enjoyed the outdoors, spending time with his family, attending grandkid’s sporting events and activities, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan. He also enjoyed being an encouragement to many friends and family members with his weekly letters and cards that he wrote and mailed/emailed around the country.
Surviving in addition to his wife Suzanne are his three children, Kelly, wife of Todd Suessmuth, Manheim, Kevin, husband of Richelle Kegarise, Manheim, and Kerry, wife of Clark “Skip” Jeffries, Martinsburg; 6 grandchildren: Kyle, Tyler, Kody, and wife Lauren, Kade, Jackson, and Maia; a brother John, husband of Mim Kegarise, Manheim, and five sisters, Sharon, wife of Chris Doughtery, Mechanicsburg, Lois, wife of late Dale Wolf, Mechanicsburg, Darlene, wife of Bill Smith, Blain, Janice, wife of Bob Salsgiver, Warsaw, IN, and Janet, wife of Dale Hippensteel, York. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelsey.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to his Celebration of Life Service at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 4:00 PM. Live streaming will be available at: calvarychurch.org/more/memorial-service-livestream. There will be a time of visitation and refreshments immediately following the service. Private interment will be in Manheim Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Don’s memory to the Benevolent Fund at Calvary Church www.calvarychurch.org.
