Donald J. Marley, MSgt. U.S. Air Force (Retired), of Elizabethtown, died Sunday November 18, 2012 at the Masonic Health Care Center, Elizabethtown, after a long battle with ALS. He was the loving husband to Janet A. (Hummel), and they celebrated 54 years of marriage in June of 2012. Born in Maytown, he was the son of the late Paul J. and Elizabeth (Shope) Marley. Don faithfully served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years before retiring in 1973, he then worked for the former Wyeth Labs in Marietta for 20 years. Don enjoyed volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 36 when his sons were younger, and also with their youth soccer teams. Don was an avid reader, and you could always find him trying to fix or mend things, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife Janet are two daughters Karen L. Marley of Colorado Springs, CO, Lisa S. wife of Kevin McCullough of Birdsboro; three sons Cleon E. husband of Linda Marley of Lancaster, Donald J. Jr. of Paxton MA, Christopher S. husband of Jessica Marley of Harrisburg; and thirteen grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Marley. Services and interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private. Don's family would to thank the Penn State Hershey Medical Center and the Masonic Village Hospice for their support and care during the past years and months.
