Donald S. Groff

Donald S. Groff, 91, of Lititz, died peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at the United Zion Retirement Community. Born in Pequea, he was the son of the late Ira and Lillian Stauffer Groff. He was the loving husband of the late Marian Sangrey Groff who died in March of 2024 following 70 years of marriage. Donald worked as a farmer in Penn Township, was employed as a laborer and truck driver for over 26 years for B.R. Kreider and Son Inc., Manheim; and as an Independent Licensed Auctioneer at Roots Country Auction, and other areas in Lancaster County. He was a faithful and active member of East Petersburg Mennonite Church, where he served as a song leader, and Sunday school teacher. His interests included hunting, camping, and traveling to the family cabin “Brookside Rest” in Mifflin County. Donald had a deep passion for his family, and he cherished the time he could spend with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Surviving are four children: Donald E. husband of Shirley Groff of Lititz, James L. husband of Ada Groff, Joanne Walker and C. Douglas husband of Lisa Groff, all of Manheim, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter, two brothers: Robert husband of Lou Groff of Quarryville, Harold husband of Pat Groff of East Petersburg, and two sisters-in-law: Carolyn Groff of Lititz, and Esther Groff of Lancaster. Preceding him in death are two brothers: Richard and Ira Groff, and a great great grandson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Donald’s Memorial Service at the East Petersburg Mennonite Church, 6279 Main Street, East Petersburg, on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the church immediately following the service. Private interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
