Dennis C. Shutt, 57, formerly of Manheim, PA., and Kernersville, N.C., died Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the Praxis Nursing Home in Easton following a lengthy illness. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Clayton Shutt of Manheim, and the late Pauline V. Wolf Shutt. Dennis was a 1973 graduate of Manheim Central High School and a 1977 graduate of Shippensburg University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He also attended Brandywine College in Delaware for two years. In his early years, Dennis worked part time for Lancaster Newspapers coordinating the local delivery of newspapers to area stores and to paper route carriers in the greater Manheim area. Dennis last worked for a professional employment company in North Carolina hiring top accountants for positions with companies throughout the United States. Previously, he was an accountant and business supervisor for Datcon Company in East Petersburg; he also worked in the accounting department for the Fuller Company in Manheim. Dennis was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim. He was also a member of the Manheim Lions Club and had served as their treasurer. His interests included: traveling, reading, hiking, spending time in the outdoors, and attending sporting events of any kind. Surviving in addition to his father, is a sister, Carol A., wife of Donald L. Stoltz of Lebanon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral service from St. Richard Catholic Church, 110 North Oak Street, Manheim on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Father Francis T. Menei officiating. Interment will be private in Manheim Fairview Cemetery, Penn Township. There will be a viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
