Dennis W. “Denny” Andrew, 78, of Manheim, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at the Hershey Medical Center. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Wilmer J. and Dorothy Mae Barley Andrew. Dennis was the loving husband of Cindy L. Myers Andrew and they observed their 55th wedding anniversary in August of this year.
Dennis earned a bachelor's degree from Findlay University, Ohio in 1968 and a Master of Divinity from Winebrenner Seminary, Ohio in 1971. For over 50 years Dennis served as a pastor in many churches in the Lancaster County area. Dennis also worked in the Fire/Water Restoration Industry in Central Pennsylvania for several years. Dennis concluded his ministry when he retired as Pastor at Grace Community Fellowship Church, Manheim.
Following retirement Dennis served as a Chaplain at the Lebanon Veterans Administration Medical Center, and for Hospice and Community Care, Lancaster. Dennis and Cindy were active in helping at Grace Community Fellowship, and Community Church of Manheim. Dennis enjoyed the outdoors with his interests in hunting, fishing, hiking; especially in the Pocono Mountains area. He was an avid reader and enjoyed western novels and movies. He enjoyed rooting for his Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State Nittany Lions Football Teams. He had a deep passion for his family and would attend every activity and celebration to support his children and grandchildren. Dennis was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and cared deeply for both strangers and friends. He humbly shared the Gospel throughout his life.
Surviving in addition to his wife Cindy, a daughter Amy Jo wife of Bryan Howett of Manheim, and their children: Taylor wife of Justin Crowell, Caitlin wife of Peter Smith, Cameron Howett, a son, Jay W. Andrew, husband of Hilary Mace of Mount Gretna, and their children: Mitchell Andrew, Cody Andrew, a son, Corey D. husband of Anne Andrew of Mount Gretna, and their children: Aaron Andrew, Evan Andrew, Owen Andrew, a daughter, Holly Beth Scott of Elizabethtown, and her children: Rylie Scott, Averi Scott, great grandchildren: Chase Crowell and Charli Crowell; and a sister, Lorraine wife of Don Isaacs of Tamarac, Fl.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dennis’s Celebration of Life Service at Erb Mennonite Church, 567 West Lexington Road, Lititz, on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Manheim Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Dennis’s memory to: Hope Served, 201 West High Street, Manheim, PA 17545.
