David R. Hughes, 69, of Mount Joy, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy, with his family by his side. Born in Pottsville he was the son of the late Richard and Naomi (Correll) Hughes. David was a linehall truck driver for over 44 years for ABF. He was the husband of Wendy (Keiffer) Hughes and they celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this April 2016. David proudly served in the Army during Vietnam War. He was a member of Hosanna! A Fellowship of Christians, of Lititz. He was a member of the Palmyra Sportsman Club and enjoyed collecting handguns and reloading the brass.
Surviving in addition to his wife Wendy are three children, Stephanie Hughes of Elizabethtown, David R. Hughes, Jr. of Mount Joy, Brent D. Hughes of Maytown; three grandchildren, Samantha, Nathaniel, and Brianna; one great-granddaughter, Savannah; and a brother, Carroll husband of Beverly Hughes of Lititz.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service with military honors at Hosanna! A Fellowship of Christians, 29 Green Acre Road, Lititz on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 7:00 PM. There will be a time of visitation with the family at the church on Monday evening from 6:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
