David M. "Lefty" Yohn Jr.

David (Lefty) M. Yohn Jr. 88, formerly of Manheim, passed away on Monday Feb. 15, 2016 at his home in North Fort Myers, Fla. Born September 30, 1927 in Mechanicsburg, Pa. He was the son of the late David M. Sr. and Mary A. Thomas Yohn; and was preceded in death by a sister Carol E. Thompson and a brother Lynnwood L. Yohn. Lefty attended Manheim Central High School. He proudly served his country in the Navy during WW ll on a destroyer, the USS Brinkley Bass. Lefty worked for years at the former U.S. Asbestos Plant in Manheim. He coached several Manheim community baseball teams and pitched for several softball teams retiring from softball after pitching for the Lake Fairways Senior League. Lefty enjoyed golf during his retirement having eight holes in one during those years. He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim and Messiah Lutheran Church, Cape Coral Fla.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years Donna (Diehm) Yohn, four children: David B. Yohn of Nevada, Denise S. wife of Dennis Brumbach, Manheim, Devin C. husband of Donna ( Walters) Yohn and DeeAnn D., wife of Rick Carpenter all of Manheim, nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren who loved him dearly. He had a special way with the kids that shined through when they were together. He is also survived by a brother, Darryl M. husband of Susan (Treadway) Yohn, sister, JoAnn L. wife of Donald Shelly, and brother, Daniel M. Yohn all of Manheim.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville at 12:30 PM.
