David E. James Sr. 88, of Lititz, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Neffsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Hanover, he was the son of the late Clair D. and Vivian B. Moss James. David was the loving husband of E. Claudette Abernathy James who died in December of 2021 following 64 years of marriage. A veteran, David served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. For many years he worked as a sales representative for Pepsi Cola Company. David was a member of LCBC Church, Manheim Campus. He was an accomplished artist known for his detailed sketches. Searching and discovering treasurers with his metal detector was one of his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed putting together puzzles and reading Civil War books. David had a life-long passion for his family, and he cherished all the time he could spend with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons: William H. husband of Deborah Shelton of Mechanicsville, VA, David E. II husband of Marilyn James of Elizabethtown, a daughter, Deborah E. “Deb” wife of Robert Adcock of Lititz, eleven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are two brothers: Oscar and Thomas James, and two sisters: Rita Nunemacher and Glenda Binkley.
Services for David will be private and at the convenience of the family.
