David P. Adcock, 59, of York, beloved husband, father, Pappy, and brother; died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. Born in Meadville, he was the son of the late Oreon M. “Odie” and Carmella M. Bonelli Adcock. David was the loving husband of Elizabeth A. Bachman Adcock and they observed their 25th wedding anniversary in May of this year. He attended Wrightsville Assembly of God.
Following his graduation from the World Wide College of Auctioneers in Mason City, Iowa, David, followed his father and brothers in a life-long career as an accomplished Auctioneer specializing in the Auto Industry. David had an extensive knowledge of autos, and a stellar reputation of choosing the right way during his professional career; that earned respect by colleagues throughout the auto industry. David became the Lead Auctioneer and Manager of all the Auctioneers for the Manheim Auto Auction and their multiple affiliate locations nationally. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association, and helped with the York County District Attorney’s Auction every year.
David’s passion was wide ranging from Snowmobiling, to Auto Racing, to Hunting and Fishing. He was a member of the PA State Snowmobiling Association, and would faithfully spend 12 days every year Snowmobiling throughout Québec Canada. He loved fishing in Alaska, and hunting trips to Manitoba. In his early days he was deeply involved in Road Track Racing in Watkins Glen International, and being a member of the Sports Car Club of America and the American Race Car Association. David was comfortable racing his Miata, or Legends Race Cars, to racing stock cars at Pocono Race Way. He became a certified instructor for Stock Car Racing at Pocono. David also enjoyed riding his many Harley Davidson Motorcycles over the years.
David was devoted to God, his Christian Faith Walk, and his Family. He was genuine, humble, and understood people that had to work hard each and every day. He deeply cherished all the time he could spend with his wife, children, granddaughter, and extended family; and in quiet ways helped many people he came in contact with over the years. He had a true servant’s heart.
Surviving in addition to his wife Elizabeth, is a daughter, Olivia wife of Chris Fry, two sons: Connor M. Adcock and Noah T. Adcock all of York, a granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Fry, and a brother, Robert J. “Bob” husband of Deborah Adcock of Lititz. Preceding him in death are three brothers: Oreon M. “Jody” Adcock Jr., Thomas R. “Rusty” Adcock, and Michael Scott Adcock.
A gathering to Celebrate David's Life will take place at the Manheim Auto Auction, 1190 Lancaster Road, Manheim, on Thursday, September 5, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
