Daniel S. “Dan” Stoltzfus, 78, of Mount Joy, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday July 24, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care, Lancaster. Born in Gordonville, he was the son of the late Abram and Priscilla (Stoltzfus) Stoltzfus. He was the loving husband of Marjorie L. (Sauder) Stoltzfus and they celebrated 55 years of marriage in March. Dan was a dairy farmer on the home farm in Rapho Township and recently he was the owner and operator of Stoltzfus Catering of Mount Joy. He was a member of Chestnut Hill Mennonite Church, Columbia, and was a former board member of Eastern Mennonite Missions Partners in Evangelism. In addition to his church he enjoyed tennis, golfing, shuffle board, farming, and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Randall J. Stoltzfus of Coatesville, Dale E. husband of Beth (Schafer) Stoltzfus of Lititz, Brenda S. wife of Frank Miller of Oxford, IA, and Dwight D. Stoltzfus of Bellefonte; ten grandchildren, Clayton, Clarissa, Clinton, Justin, Trevor, Jenna, Aaron, Sarah, Caleb and Brandon; two sisters, Miriam Stoltzfus of Gap, Priscilla wife of John Stoltzfus of Manheim; a brother, David Stoltzfus of Kansas City, MO; and a sister in-law, Priscilla Stoltzfus of Lancaster. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two grandchildren Elizabeth Rose Stoltzfus, Jeremy Kent Stoltzfus; six brothers and two sisters.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at the Mount Joy Mennonite Church, 320 Musser Road, Mount Joy on Monday July 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Kraybill Mennonite Cemetery will be private. There will be a public viewing on Sunday evening from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Chestnut Hill Mennonite Church, 4050 Marietta Avenue, Columbia. There will also be a time of visitation with the family on Monday immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
