Daniel G. “Dan” Ganse, 84, of Manheim, died peacefully on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late George W. Ganse, and the late Helen M. Gochenour-Ganse-Myers. Dan graduated from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. He was of the Catholic faith; and was visited by clergy and members of St. Richard Catholic Church, Manheim. Dan was enlisted in the Army and enjoyed being stationed in Germany. After his military service, Dan worked for RCA as a welder for over 35 years. Following retirement, he enjoyed working part-time at the Manheim Auto Auction for many years. He was a member of the Manheim Tennis Club and loved to play tennis. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, riding his moped, and going out to eat with family and friends.
Surviving is the mother of their children, Martha Weitzel Ganse, of Middletown, a son; Daniel M. husband of Heidi A. Ganse, of Manheim, a daughter; Sandra L. wife of Anthony A. Deraco, of Lancaster, and a grandson; Kyle M. Ganse, of Manheim. Preceding him in death is a brother; Robert Ganse, and a sister; Sister Nancy Ganse.
Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend Dan’s funeral service on Friday July 6, 2018 at the Buch Funeral Home, 21 Market Square, Manheim, at 11:00 AM. There will be a viewing on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will be in Hernley Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may send contributions in Dan’s memory to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014 in hopes of finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
