Dana Lu Rose, 79, of Manheim, died peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Pleasant View Retirement Community. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Daniel L. and Edna Fisher Barthold. Dana received a nursing degree from Temple University and was employed as a registered nurse at the Lebanon Veterans Administration Medical Center; she also worked for many other health care agencies throughout the years. Dana was an active and faithful member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manheim, where she served as a Stephen Minister, was a member of the social ministry committee, the Daughters of Zion and delivered roses to the senior adults of the church. She was also active in the Manheim community by volunteering for Meals On Wheels and the Nearly-Nu Shop. Her interests included reading, playing board games with her friends at the Danner Home and going to the beach.
Surviving is a daughter, Beth Rose from Manheim, two granddaughters: Ariel Seachrist, Trinity Becker, a nephew, Dan husband of Linda Barthold, and a niece, Kelly Barthold all of Manheim. Preceding her in death is a son, Benjamin W. Rose Jr., and a brother, Harold C. Barthold.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Dana’s memorial service at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2 South Hazel Street, Manheim, on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 3:00 PM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Thursday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Manheim Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent in Dana’s memory to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2 South Hazel Street, Manheim, PA 17545 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 800 Corporate Circle, Suite #100, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9833.
