Connie Benner passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones, after a long battle with a chronic illness, on January 4, 2017. She is survived by her two children, Taura Thompson, wife of Jason Thompson, and Travis Thomson partner to Julie Carino. She is also survived by her four siblings: Sandra Wellborn, wife of Jim Wellborn, Brad Benner, husband of Barb Benner, Kay McConnell, wife of William McConnell, and Bryan Benner as well as her three grandsons, Collin Thompson, Cameron Thompson, and Karsten Thomson.
Connie devoted her life to her family, friends and her career as a registered nurse. She was a strong believer in morning coffee, which she drank all day long, and in the equality between the sexes. She was an avid jogger and a lover of books, dogs and long walks at Mt. Gretna and Rehoboth Beach. Connie's strongest and most passionate love was reserved for her family. She would do anything she could for those she loved. Connie also enjoyed adventuring with her family and friends to France, Scotland, Ireland, England, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean. Some of her fondest memories were spent closer to home at holiday gatherings with the extended Benner Clan on Echo Valley Road surrounded by her parents, John and Anita Benner, and all whom she adored. Connie's irreverent humor, incredible strength and enduring love will be profoundly missed by those who knew her best. Nana, Mom, sister, daughter and aunt... May you always be embraced by love and laughter and all that is true and right. THANK YOU for a life well lived.
Connie's family invites close friends to gather to celebrate her life on Saturday, Jan. 21st at McCleary's Public House in Marietta, PA, drop-in from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
