Clyde G. Greiner, 84, of Manheim, died peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at the Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, Manheim. Born in Mastersonville, he was the son of the late Noah and Anna Mae Geib Greiner. Clyde was the loving husband of Mary Becker Greiner who died in January of last year. For over 40 years Clyde was employed at the former Agway Feed Mill, Manheim. Clyde was also the owner and operator of a small farm in Rapho Township where he delighted in growing tobacco and driving his favorite Oliver tractor. He was an active and faithful member of the East Fairview Church of the Brethren, Manheim; where he served on the cemetery board, and helped with the cemetery maintenance over the years. In his early years he helped with Brethren Volunteer Service in Illinois, and Texas. He was a huge Hershey Bears hockey fan and treasured every game he was able to attend. Clyde loved traveling with his family to the Potter County cabin that he helped to build; where he enjoyed snowmobiling, canoeing, and watching wildlife. He had a life-long passion for his family. He also loved spending time with Nevin and Bonnie Greiner and their children.
Surviving are two daughters: Wanda M. wife of Jeff Thompson, of Lititz, Sharon K. wife of Mitch Hart, of Lancaster, a son, John M. Greiner of Manheim, and a granddaughter, Lauren Thompson. Preceding him in death are three brothers: Lester, Robert, and Noah Greiner Jr., and a sister, Lois June Derstler.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Clyde’s funeral service at the East Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1187 Fairview Road, Manheim, on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
