Clarence Raymond “Butch” Klopp, 93, of Stuart, Florida, and formerly of Manheim, died peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Martin Hospital South, in Stuart, FL. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John R. and Margaret Seyfret Klopp. Butch was the loving husband of Edna E. “Bets” Gibble Klopp and they observed their 70th wedding anniversary in December of last year. For over 27 years Butch worked as a crane operator for Jones and Laughlin Steel Company, Lancaster; and then was employed for 10 years for the Manheim Central School District. A veteran, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a life member of the Manheim VFW. Butch was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Stuart, FL. He was a very active and faithful member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Manheim, where he served on the church consistory as both a Deacon and Elder. A 33rd degree mason, Butch was also a very active member of the Manheim Masonic Lodge where he served as Past Master, Scottish Rite Valley of Reading, and Rajah Shrine. Butch was a member on the Manheim Borough Council and served as president. He also was president and member of the Manheim Historical Society. Butch volunteered as a driver for the Manheim Veterans Memorial Ambulance Association; and was a volunteer for the Lancaster General Hospital, a service he proudly continued for the Martin Healthcare System in Stuart, Florida. Throughout his life Butch loved to play golf.
Surviving in addition to his wife Bets, is a granddaughter, Brandy Lynn Klopp of St. Augustine, FL. Preceding him in death was his only a son, John Raymond Klopp, a brother, Charles F. Klopp, and a sister, S. June Luke.
Memorial services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Stuart, 1500 South Kanner Hwy., Stuart, FL on Monday, April 6, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Butch’s remains will be interred at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, where he will join his son. This date has yet to be determined by the family.
